VMware: Analiza todo el entorno VMware mientras tomas el café con vCheck vSphere

Saludos, hoy os quiero presentar una utilidad para todos estos que les gusta empezar el día conociendo si su entorno VMware vSphere está correcto, o si por el contrario hay algún Snapshot pendiente, o alguna VM con una ISO o floppy adjunto, o errores a nivel de HA, etc. Se trata de vCheck vSphere, una serie de Scripts en PowerShell anidados en uno solo que nos hará la vida más sencilla:

¿Qué información recopilar y muestra vCheck vSphere?

Este conjunto de Plugins es de lo más completo que he visto en mucho tiempo, y a su vez sencillo, ya que una vez configurado nos enviará un simple mensaje de correo electrónico cada día, con toda la información, cómo podéis ver más arriba, o el mío a continuación:

  • Chequeo para el over commit a nivel de Memoria RAM

  • Hosts ESXi sin Lockdown habilitado
  • Hosts ESXi con unsupported mode habilitado
  • Información general de capacidad basada en CPU/MEM y uso de las VMs
  • Puertos libres a nivel de vSwitch

  • Incidencias a nivel de configuración de Host

Descarga e instalación de vCheck vSphere

Este proyecto está disponible de manera gratuita en, la siempre útil página de Developers de VMware, Developer Center, y también en el  GitHub oficial de Alan.

vChech vSphere necesita contar con los siguientes requisitos:

  • PowerShell V2
  • PowerCLI 5.01 or later version
  • vCenter 2.5 or later version

Una vez hemos descargado el fichero, deberemos ejecutar desde la PowerCLI lo siguiente, yo recomiendo poner este Script directamente en el vCenter:

PowerCLI C:\vCheck-vSphere-master> .\vCheck.ps1 -Config

Que nos mostrará el siguiente mensaje:

Después del asistente nos solicitará las credenciales de VMware vSphere y del usuario local para poder acceder al Visor de Eventos, esto es opcional y si no lo introducimos tampoco perderemos mucho.

Por ejemplo, en el reporte podremos ver las VM que tienen ISOS o floppies conectadas, y que nos darán problemas a la hora de realizar HA y vMotion.

Programar el Script

Ya solamente nos queda configurar una tarea programada que nos ejecute el vCheck.ps1 (sin el -Config) cada mañana en el vCenter, y nos llegará un cómodo y útil a la dirección de correo, o direcciones, que queramos, para poder revisar nuestro entorno, o el de nuestros clientes, mientras tomamos el café o el zumo, sin ningún problema.

    Yo lo estoy utilizando desde hace unos dias y me parece muy completo, lo unico que he visto que no funciona bien son los reportes a nivel de redes SW virtuales, NICS, portgroups etc
